Charlotte Hornets: Predicting each players stats for the 2019-20 season
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is coming off the worst season of his career, so hopefully he can turn things around during a contract year in 2019-20. I don’t expect his role to change very much, so he’ll have to embrace being a defensive energizer coming off of Charlotte’s bench this year.
MKG dealt with some injuries last year, but managed to average 6.7 points and 3.8 rebounds. He’s the kind of player who makes an impact beyond the stat sheet. He’s a very good perimeter defender and does the little things like deflections and hustle plays. That’s what makes him a valuable player to any team.
He may never be a reliable shooter, but you can always count on him for effort and energy, especially defensively. He’ll be backing up both Dwayne Bacon and Miles Bridges this season before hitting free agency. MKG is still just 25 years old and still has potential to be unlocked, but it may not be with the Hornets. There’s just too many guys ahead of him right now.
I love Kidd-Gilchrist’s game and think he deserves more playing time. It remains to be seen if he gets that playing time, but I’m expecting a pretty similar season to the one he just had in 2018-19.
