2019-20 Eastern Conference Standings Predictions: Where do the Charlotte Hornets sit?
No. 1 – Philadelphia 76ers
In my mind, the Philadelphia 76ers are the best team in the Eastern Conference, and are a top three team in the entire NBA. I love the moves they made this off-season, and they would be my current favorites to reach the NBA Finals in the Eastern Conference.
First off, they extended Ben Simmons and re-signed Tobias Harris, both crucial pieces to the teams success. They may have lost Jimmy Butler to Miami, but they were able to get Josh Richardson in a sign-and-trade in the process. Richardson is such an underrated piece and will help that team tremendously on both sides of the floor.
Let’s not forget the addition of Al Horford. I think a front court of Horford and Embiid is one of the best in the NBA, and I think they will fit well together. Horford makes such a huge impact and could be the piece that Philadelphia needs to take the next step.
Pair all of that with some solid depth moves like adding Raul Neto and Kyle O’Quinn, that’s a slam dunk off-season. Philadelphia is for real, in my opinion. I think this is a team that could absolutely win a championship.
So, obviously, your Charlotte Hornets aren’t exactly in a favorable spot in my projections, but the future is what’s more important at the moment. If they can keep developing talent and hitting in the draft, they could be back in playoff contention in the future.
