Charlotte Hornets: Miles Bridges could start at power forward
With the start of the 2019-20 season two months out, the Charlotte Hornets look like they are ready to start Miles Bridges in the frontcourt.
Throughout the offseason, the Charlotte Hornets have not been clear on who they plan to start at certain positions. Thanks to a recent report, Hornets fans can now have some clarity on who the starting power forward will be.
According to Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer, Coach James Borrego is leaning toward starting Miles Bridges at power forward. With this news, it can only mean that Bridges is winning the position battle against Marvin Williams.

Rick Bonnell reported that this decision came up during last month. If Borrego chooses Bridges to start, this would be the first season where Williams does not begin the season as a starter. Williams has started in every game with the Hornets since the 2015-16 season.
Bridges is entering his second NBA season, and he is coming off an impressive outing from Summer League. As a rookie, Bridges averaged 7.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game for Charlotte. He even started in twenty-five games last season.
Bridges seems ready to take the next step and start in the frontcourt. Fans know that Bridges is ready because he’s been showing out in many pick-up games he’s played in this offseason.
Since his rookie season, Bridges has improved his perimeter shooting, and he has gotten better at finishing around the rim. Fans could see these improvements during Summer League.
If Bridges starts at power forward, he will have to prove a lot of doubters wrong. Bridges should do well since he averaged 12.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game as the starting power forward last season when Williams was out.
It will be interesting to see if Borrego chooses Bridges to start in game one. I expect Bridges to see significant time as the team’s starting power forward during the preseason if these reports hold up.
