Charlotte Hornets: Where Terry Rozier ranks among all starting point guards
6. Kemba Walker, Boston Celtics
During the offseason, the Charlotte Hornets lost Kemba Walker to the Boston Celtics after the team could not find a way to re-sign him. Walker is Charlotte’s best player in franchise history, and he leads the Hornets in many statistical categories.
After having a career year last season, I expect Walker to continue his dominance with the Celtics. This will be Walker’s first chance to play in the NBA with a team that has stars on it. Walker was expected to carry Charlotte on his back on many nights, and now he will not have as much pressure.
5. LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers
During the offseason, the Lakers announced that they would have LeBron James play point guard this season. This doesn’t come as a surprise since the Lakers are stacked in their frontcourt with Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard, Javale McGee, and Kyle Kuzma.
If the Lakers end up having James play point guard, then the league is going to be in trouble. James averaged 27.4 points and 8.3 assists per game last season for the Lakers. I expect him to do well as the team’s starting point guard, as he’s proven to be an effective ball handler.
4. Kyrie Irving, Brooklyn Nets
Kyrie Irving is set to play with his third NBA team, and he could be poised for a huge year next season. Despite the Celtics’ drama last season, Irving managed to average 23.8 points and 6.9 assists per game. Watching Kyrie’s handles last season never got old for any fan.
Irving is set to lead the Brooklyn Nets this upcoming season and will get the chance to play with one of the league’s best players next season. The NBA better watch out for the Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant dynamic duo in Brooklyn.
