Charlotte Hornets: Where Terry Rozier ranks among all starting point guards
3. Damian Lillard, Portland Trail Blazers
Damian Lillard is poised for a huge season next year after how last season ended against the Warriors. Lillard is easily a top-five point guard, and he could become even better next season.
Lillard averaged 25.8 points and 6.9 assists per game last season, and he seems to keep improving on offense every season. I think he’s going to be a weapon from beyond the arc next season, and I foresee him making a few more three-point game-winning shots.
2. Russell Westbrook, Houston Rockets
During the offseason, Russell Westbrook was reunited with his former teammate James Harden. Westbrook has not been on the same team with Harden since the 2011-12 season.
Westbrook will get the opportunity to play with someone who averaged over 36 points per game last season. This will allow Westbrook to have a lot of pressure taken off his shoulders, while also giving him the chance to pass the ball to an offensive weapon. The NBA should fear the Rockets’ new backcourt.
1. Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors
We all knew that Stephen Curry would be ranked as the best point guard for this set of rankings. Curry is heading into his 11th NBA season, and his other splash brother Klay Thompson could miss a significant amount of time due to an injury.
Curry averaged 27.3 points and 5.2 assists per game last season, and he could be poised for a huge season this year. Since Durant was traded, we can expect to see Curry taking more shots next season and continuing to punish opposing teams with his three-point shooting.
