Tracking the play of 2020 NBA Draft prospects throughout the 2019-20 season will be a popular trend considering the Charlotte Hornets are likely lottery bound.
Going into a brand new season gives a team a clean slate. All NBA teams are fighting to win a championship, but some teams have a roster capable of winning it all, and some teams do not. The reality for the Charlotte Hornets is that they are towards the bottom of the league, which could give them a top pick in the 2020 NBA Drat.
After losing their franchise superstar in Kemba Walker during free agency, not to mention their second leading scorer in Jeremy Lamb, the Hornets will certainly take a tumble during the 2019-20 season. They are a young team that will be building towards the future rather than win right now.
With that being said, it’s never too early to take a look at some prospects that could be enticing for the Hornets when the 2020 NBA Draft does eventually come around next June. It projects to be another strong draft class, but maybe not as strong as the previous three years have been.

The Charlotte Hornets already have an interesting young core set in place, so adding the right talent and the right fits to that core will be important. I’m not sure if they have a guy that you can build around on the roster already, but they certainly have some good complimentary pieces already.
The amount of young talent coming into the NBA over the years has been insane. We are seeing more and more young stars come into the league and make an immediate impact. That should motivate the Hornets even more to build through the draft and take this whole rebuild slowly. It takes time and patience, so pushing the accelerator too early would be a mistake.
Speaking of young talent, I came up with a list of 10 2020 NBA Draft prospects that should be watched closely during the season. Rankings are going to change between now and the 2020 NBA Draft, of course, but this will still be a list of prospects that the Hornets could seriously consider taking in the lottery if that is indeed where they end up.
Let’s get this started!
