No. 1 – Anthony Edwards (Freshman, Georgia)

My choice of best player in the 2020 NBA Draft goes to Georgia’s Anthony Edwards. He’s probably the best two-way player in this draft class and has a chance to be a star in the NBA. He plays both ends of the floor, and that’s a big reason why he’s number one to me.

Offensively, Edwards is built like a truck and plays a physical brand of basketball. He’s so strong and is tough to stop because of his strength and explosive athleticism. Players are going to feel wiped out after guarding him for an entire game.

He’s not just a power finisher, though. He can score from anywhere on the court. Edwards has a nice shooting touch and he will also be able to get to the free-throw line at an elite rate. He’s certainly ahead of his years.

Edwards also has a chance to be an elite on-ball defender. He’s a dog on the court and just gets after it. He can guard four different positions on the court and do it quite comfortably. Whoever gets blessed to add this kid to their roster is getting a two-way player that has a chance to be an All-Star year in and year out. He’s a special  player.

It would be awesome if the Charlotte Hornets can get their hands on any of these players. It’s going to be a rebuilding season, so a lottery pick is likely. With tanking eliminated from the equation, all fans can do is hope for a top selection in the draft.
