No. 5 – Theo Maledon (18 years old, France)

The man who may be the best international talent in the 2020 NBA Draft — France’s Theo Maledon. The lengthy 6’5″ guard has an incredible amount of potential both offensively and defensively and has already shown a lot of signs so young into his basketball career. I love his game and think he’s a top prospect in this draft.

He’s got great size and length at the point guard position, so that helps him see over the defense and make plays. He’s an excellent playmaker and loves to set up his teammates. Maledon also gets after it defensively on the perimeter and can finish around the rim with a soft-touch floater.

The Charlotte Hornets certainly need more defenders, so that would make Maledon a good choice. He fits into today’s position-less basketball and will be able to play and guard multiple positions on the floor. He’s so young and can become a scary talent one day.

Maledon is personally one of my favorite players in this draft class. I just love those lengthy guards who play both ends of the court. He has a tremendous feel for the game and is just a really smart player. If he continues to extend his range, the sky is the limit for Maledon.
