No. 3 – James Wiseman (Freshman, Memphis)

James Wiseman is a guy that would definitely be the first pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. He’s a modern-day big man that can stretch the floor, pass well, rebound and play defense. He’s the total package at the center position and has perennial All-Star upside. He would be a perfect fit for the Charlotte Hornets.

Wiseman was ranked by most as the best recruit in the 2019 class. He committed to Memphis and will play under Head Coach and former NBA player, Penny Hardaway. Barring any surprised, Wiseman will likely be at Memphis for one season before making the jump to the NBA. I would lock him in as an easy top-three selection next June.

He’s so well-rounded for his size. I can see him coming into the league and being a contributor from day one.  Wiseman is going to be around for a long time and could be a nightly double-double threat in the NBA.

It’s tough to point out any major weaknesses in his game, but he, like many other prospects, has to get much stronger. Improving his body will only make him a tougher cover around the basket. He should also put improving his footwork as a priority. It’s not a huge issue, but something that should be improved upon.

If you’re going of positional needs, Wiseman may be the perfect fit for the Charlotte Hornets.
