Atlanta Hawks

  • ’18-19 Record: 29-53
  • ’18-19 Season Series: 3-1 (Hornets)
  • ’19-20 Advantage: Hawks

There are many teams in this league with a bright future, but the team with the brightest future may very well be the Atlanta Hawks. It’s hard to imagine them in the playoff picture this season, but they should be a perennial postseason contender for many years to come in the future.

The Hornets won the season series against the Hawks last season, but I don’t see them repeating that success during the 2019-20 season.

The Hawks have built an incredible young core in a matter of two seasons with Trae Young, John Collins, Kevin Huerter and others. It’s a rebuild that the Hornets should use as motivation as they take the next step towards towards building a team that can compete in the Eastern Conference.

One team — the Atlanta Hawks — are on the rise, while the other team — the Charlotte Hornets — are building from scratch. Maybe the Hornets can steal a game or two against Atlanta next season, but these are games that the Hawks need to win if they want to sneak into the playoffs.

Let’s hope the Charlotte Hornets can eventually rebuild as quick as the Atlanta Hawks have done. The front office in Atlanta deserves a ton of credit.
