Dallas Mavericks

  • ’18-19 Record: 33-49
  • ’18-19 Season Series: 2-0 (Mavericks)
  • ’19-20 Advantage: Mavericks

One of the more intriguing teams in the Western Conference are the Dallas Mavericks. They have a future superstar in Luka Doncic, and a proven star in Kristaps Porzingis to go with him. Porzingis, though, is coming off a torn ACL, so it remains to be seen if he can regain the form he had with New York.

If everything goes right for this team, I could see them sneaking into the playoff picture. Doncic and Porzingis are both special players, and they have some good complimentary players to go around them both.

If things go wrong, it will likely be another year in the lottery for them. They are still a few pieces away from truly competing, but I expect them to show signs of growth during the 2019-20 season. This team could be really good in the future.

The Charlotte Hornets couldn’t get a win over Dallas last season, and I don’t see them getting one this season either. Playing only twice per season, these teams are unfamiliar with each other, but Dallas has a lot more talent at the moment.
