Charlotte Hornets Round Table: 2019-20 Season Preview
How many games will the Charlotte Hornets win during the 2019-20 season?
Caleb Baugher (Contributor): “I expect the Hornets to win around 30 games. They typical win around half of their games, but with Kemba no longer carrying the team on his back or Jeremy Lamb to knock down buzzer beaters; the Hornets may struggle to close out close games. Look out for them win even less than 30 if tanking becomes a serious option on the season.”
Brendan Boylan (Contributor): “The more and more I looked over the over/under of 23 games won for the Hornets, the more I really believe I will take the over. While many see this as the least talented roster in the association, I see a roster that is, for the most part, unproven. Almost every one of the fifteen men on the roster in 2019-20 are fighting to stay within the rotation or on the team next season. At times, the roster will show that this team has nothing to lose, and other times it will look like a group who is unproven. I’ll give the Hornets about 25-27 wins this season.”
Elijah Edwards (Contributor): “A part of me wishes they’d win more, but I do think they’ll only manage to win 20-25 games. The Eastern Conference isn’t as loaded as it was last year, especially given the departures of stars like Kawhi Leonard, but I have a feeling the Hornets will still struggle. They may not be last in the conference, but they should be near the bottom. It’ll be interesting to see if this can be their year in terms of draft position.”
Noah Farrell (Contributor): “The Charlotte Hornets are being perceived by basketball fans and experts as the hands-down worst team in the league. We are told that their record will reflect such allegations. The Hornets record will not be good, but it may be more than most people think it will be. I believe that Terry Rozier has a better season than last year, also that Miles Bridges and Malik Monk will be drastically improved. That should lead to a few more wins than projected. I believe their record will be 28-54.”
Scott Overbey (Contributor): “18-23 the team is so devoid of any real talent it’s going to be tough to compete. They will challenge Cleveland and Memphis for the worst record in the NBA.”
Zachary Padmore (Site Expert): “After taking a close look at the schedule, my conclusion was that the Hornets will finish the 2019-20 season with 22 wins. They have some good young pieces to build around, but it’s an overall young, inexperienced roster that will likely struggle on both sides of the ball. I have them towards the bottom of the league with the Cavaliers and Grizzlies, just like Scott does.”
Giovanni Spillman (Site Expert): “Many fans expect the Hornets to lose a lot of games because Kemba is not in Charlotte; I think otherwise. The Hornets have a great group of young players who helped lead the Hornets to an 8-4 record in the team’s last twelve games last season. With the addition of Terry Rozier, I think the Hornets will win about thirty games during the 2019-20 season.”
