Charlotte Hornets Round Table: 2019-20 Season Preview
The Kemba Walker era is over, so who becomes “the man” on this team now?
Caleb Baugher (Contributor): “The man of the team now has to be Terry Rozier. Scary Terry signed a very nice deal for 3 years and is looking to double his usual playing time and number of shots in the process. Terry may be the hornets most versatile and talented player on offense and defense so expect him to lead charge all season.”
Elijah Edwards (Contributor): “I would say Miles Bridges, as of now. He might not lead the team in scoring, but he could be a Giannis type of guy who has a good all-around game. He might not be up to the level of Giannis, but I think he can easily be a 15/7/5 type of player. Not to mention his dunking ability really elevates the crowd. He seems to be the new fan favorite, at least from what I’ve seen on social media.”
Noah Farrell (Contributor): “This seems like everyone wants to deem Miles as the face of the team going forward. I agree, as the team stands now. I think that title is very much in the air for any young player to grab. Malik, Dwayne and Terry could realistically become the face. I actually think that it will be less of one player and more of a collection of players that people will think of when the Hornets come to mind.”
Scott Overbey (Contributor): “For better or worse, it will be Rozier. I’m not as down on him as everyone else seems to be, but he will be the guy to take the majority of shots when Hornets need a basket.”
Zachary Padmore (Site Expert): “A new leader must emerge and take the keys to the franchise, and I believe that will be Miles Bridges. He’s shown that he is prepared to lead by example and I think he’s ready for that challenge. The organization is super high on him both as a player and a person, his teammates love him and they will be counting on him to deliver both on and off the court. Bridges could very well be this franchises’ next star.”
Giovanni Spillman (Site Expert): “It’s sad to think that the Hornets are no longer with Kemba Walker, but the team needs someone new to step up. I think, for now, the new leader will be Terry Rozier or Miles Bridges. Both of these players have intense playing styles, and I see them both having a tremendous year next season. It will be interesting to see how Rozier plays since he finally has his own team.”
