The 2019-20 preseason is over for the Charlotte Hornets. Who earned minutes with their preseason play, and who lost minutes with their preseason play? Find out here.

We are now just five days away from Charlotte Hornets basketball. We’ve watched the team in preseason, but the games start to count on the 23rd. After finishing with a 1-4 record in preseason play, it’s clear who made a case for playing time during the regular season and who did not.

It’s been a long off-season for Charlotte Hornets fans. After a successful draft, the team and fan base prepared for the most important free agency in quite some time. Kemba Walker, the franchise superstar, was a free agent, and in the end, he inked a deal in Boston, ending his eight year tenure in the Queen City.

While it was an emotional change for fans, this break up may have benefited both Walker and the Hornets. Walker now has the chance to compete with a legit playoff contender, while the Hornets have the chance to start over and rebuild.

After finishing with 39 wins last season, that win total if projected to be much lower during the 2019-20 season. Being in a rebuilding situation, this preseason was important for many players looking to earn some early playing time.

The opportunity is there for players up-and-down the roster to contribute.

So, which players helped themselves during preseason play and which players hurt themselves? Let’s jump right in and get started with a guard who opened a lot of eyes over the summer in both Summer League and the preseason.
