Michael Jordan, the owner of the Charlotte Hornets, has been catching major heat for his comments regarding Stephen Curry. Is that heat deserved?

After appearing on The Today Show for an interview, Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan caught the attention of many furious fans after stating that Golden State Warriors superstar guard Stephen Curry “isn’t a Hall of Famer”.

Not only did Jordan feel the wrath from fans around the league, he also heard from several NBA players on Twitter who decided to chime in on the debate. In the end, I think we all know that Curry will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer when his playing career over.

There’s many ways that Jordan could be going about this, though. Is he being specific/technical? I mean, Curry really isn’t a Hall of Famer right at this very moment. Does he not want to be fined by the NBA like Magic Johnson suggested? Or is he just being delusional?

You can watch the interview here. It ranges from life as a grandfather, to giving back to his community and eventually the controversial quote at the end.

My take from this whole situation is that it shouldn’t be taken too seriously. With all that Curry has accomplished in his career, he’s an easy bet to make the Hall of Fame one day. Whether Jordan was being serious or not, there’s nothing to discuss. Curry is a Hall of Famer, if he were to retire now or in the future.

Curry is the best three-point shooter of all time, and completely changed the game. The shooting emphasis is at an all-time high and Curry has a lot to do that. Kids around the world are shooting from way outside because it’s what they seem him do in game.

He’s not just a shooter, obviously. He’s an all-around guard and one of the greatest to ever play the game. He’s a three-time NBA Champion and a two-time Most Valuable Player, with six All-Star appearances in his back pocket.

Yeah, this Curry guy is really good. Like, Hall of Fame good, regardless of what the greatest of all time has to say about it.

Jordan could have very well been keeping quiet so he can avoid a fine from the NBA. The league has made it clear that they will fine you if they believe you to be doing any sort of tampering. Going on a show and glorifying a player could get you a call from the league office.

I mean, Jordan is a billionaire, so the fine would be chump change to him. However, money is money, and I know I would hate getting rid of it over a comment that has a clear answer. My gut tells me he was being technical about the matter, and the slight grin and chuckle at the end makes me feel even stronger about that.

dark. Next. What would be a successful season?

At the end of the day, my personal opinion is that this whole thing blew out of proportion. I do understand why some fans are angry with the Charlotte Hornets owner, but it’s not something that will make me lose sleep at night.

Stephen Curry is a Hall of Famer. Period.
