Charlotte Hornets 2020 NBA Draft Monthly Big Board: November Edition
#31-40
Romeo Weems isn’t the most well-known prospect right now, but that could change by the end of the year. He’s an uber-athletic forward that attacks the basket fearlessly. He’s a decent shooter at this stage, but he’ll need to put in some more work in that area. All in all, he’s a big time athlete with some NBA skills.
Arturs Zagars is another piece to what looks like a strong international group of talent. The 6’3″ guard can hit from the perimeter, while also being able to set up his teammates. He’s really crafty and is fun to watch. His defense is his biggest weakness right now.
Mamadi Diakite made a name for himself with Virginia last season, particularly during the Cavaliers’ NCAA Championship run. He provides a ton of energy on the court. He rebounds, he defends and he finishes around the rim. He has a chance to stick in the league as a backup big.
Aaron Wiggins is a terrific role player for a talented Maryland team. He doesn’t get talked about as much as some of his teammates, but he gets the job done and may have a future in the big league. He plays both ends of the floor well and doesn’t need the ball in his hands to be effective.
The Most Improved Player in the Big East last season is off to a strong start for DePaul as a junior. The improving power forward has a versatile skill set for his position, being able to put the ball on the floor and make plays, as well as finish with a soft touch.
Tre Jones plays just like his brother, Tyus Jones, who is with the Memphis Grizzlies. He’s a smart player that makes good decisions with the ball. He’s not the best athlete or shooter, but he’s a better defender than Tyus is. He’ll be a safe pick who could make a strong career as a reserve.
A couple years ago, Killian Tillie would have likely been a first round pick if he decided to come out. He could still reach the first round, but the second round is more likely for him now. If he can stay healthy, he’ll provide a team with a legit playmaking stretch five.
CJ Elleby declared for the draft last season, but opted to return to Washington State. He’s a guy that I could see rising up draft boards if he preforms well. He’s got a sweet looking stroke from outside and can handle the ball well at the wing position.
It’s taken him some time, but Steven Enoch has stepped up for Louisville on the court, and should be able to improve his draft stock even more during his senior season. The 6’10” big man is tough around the basket and has a nose for the ball on the glass.
I’ve really liked Xavier Sneed’s two-way ability for years now, and think that he can carve himself out a role in the NBA as a “3&D” player. He needs to be more consistent with his shooting, but he can guard multiple positions, making him a potentially valuable piece down the road.
