After 23 games of close wins, close losses and blowout losses, the Charlotte Hornets finally got on the blowout win side on Wednesday night.

Going into Wednesday night’s game against the Golden State Warriors, the Charlotte Hornets had won eight games, which is more than a lot of people thought they would win up until this point. One thing, however, stood out, and that was the fact that each win they accumulated was very close in score.

In fact, the Hornets won those eight games by a combined 24 points. The biggest win they had was a seven-point victory over the Sacramento Kings. They’ve had three one-point wins and two three-point wins along the way.

Yeah, that’s pretty impressive but concerning at the same time. On one hand, you love to see such a young roster closing out games. On the other hand, it would be nice to see them get a convincing victory.

Luckily for Charlotte, they finally ended up on the right side of a blowout last night, defeating the injury-plagued Warriors with a final score of 106-91.

More from Swarm and Sting

This was a much needed confidence booster for this Charlotte Hornets team. They’ve been up-and-down lately, and were favored to win this game, so they did a good job just taking care of business on the home floor.

They were led by the exciting backcourt duo of Terry Rozier and Devonte’ Graham, who combined for 58 points, 14 rebounds, 16 assists and 15 three-pointers. They were both absolutely incredible.

Graham had 33 of the 58 points, and also hit a career-high 10 three’s. Rozier had 25 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Both players are in a groove right now, and they really carried Charlotte to victory in this one.

Charlotte lost only one of the four quarters in the win, and did a good job of controlling the game for the most part. It was a wire-to-wire victory. They are now 9-14 on the season, good for the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference.

This is a young Charlotte Hornets team that is still learning how to win. There’s going to be good and bad games filled with learning moments, but the important thing is that they take these lessons and apply them for the future.
