With a quarter of the season in the books, it’s safe to say that the Charlotte Hornets have one of the league’s best three-point shooter on the roster.

Many may agree with the title of this article, but the numbers for the Charlotte Hornets’ second-year player Devonte’ Graham do not lie. Through twenty-three games, Graham has made the second-most three-pointers in the NBA.

Graham is playing in his second pro season, and he’s currently averaging 18.7 points and 7.7 assists per game. To add to his average, Graham has almost managed to knockdown 82 three-pointers.

More from Swarm and Sting

Graham is coming off a win over the Golden State Warriors where he made ten three-pointers. This was enough to tie the Hornets’ franchise record with threes made in a game that was previously held by Kemba Walker.

Out of the entire NBA, Graham is currently sitting in second place in made threes. The only person who has made more threes than Graham this season is James Harden, who’s made 101.

While Harden clearly has the made more threes, it’s important to look at the shooting percentage between him and Devonte’ Graham. So far, Harden is shooting 35% from deep, while Graham is shooting 41%.

The main reason why Graham has a better percentage is because Harden has taken nearly one-hundred more threes. A slim margin separates the two players in made threes, and it’s impressive that Devonte’ is where he is.

I’m not taking anything away from James Harden, as he’s clearly a top MVP candidate, but Graham’s making a strong case with his shooting percentage. The two players will likely be neck and neck in the three-point shooting category for the rest of the season.

No one expected Graham to be where he is this season since he only made thirty-four threes and shot 28% from deep during his rookie year. With his improvements from last season, Graham easily looks like a candidate for the Most Improved Player Award.

If Graham continues to shoot threes at his current rate, then he will likely be invited to the NBA’s three-point competition during All-Star weekend. Since Graham is one of the league’s top three-point shooters, I expect him to be a participant during All-Star weekend.

Next. Defense — the thing no one is talking about. dark

The Hornets will take on the Brooklyn Nets on Friday, and I expect Graham to continue the hot streak that he’s on. So far in the month of December, Graham is averaging 24.0 points and 11.0 assists per game.
