Charlotte Hornets move to 2-0 in 2020 with win over Dallas Mavericks
With a win in a crazy game on Saturday, the Charlotte Hornets have now started the new decade 2-0, which both wins coming on the road.
On Saturday, the Charlotte Hornets pulled off a crazy win against the Dallas Mavericks on the road. This was the team’s second straight win of the new decade, and the Hornets continue to remain undefeated in 2020.
This game could not be decided in four quarters, but it finished in overtime with the Hornets winning 123-120. This was the team’s first win on the road against Dallas since the 2017-18 season.

The Hornets started this game leading the Mavericks by as much as fifteen points and more in the first half. However, the second half was not as kind to the Hornets as the first. Charlotte struggled to guard the Mavericks in the third quarter, allowing them to outscore them 40-23.
One of the major reasons why the Mavericks came back was because of the impressive play by Luka Doncic. This top-three MVP candidate finished with 39 points, 10 assists, and 12 rebounds.
After some clutch plays in the fourth, the Hornets managed to come back from a small deficit to force overtime. In overtime, the Hornets made consistent shots and played great defense.
The Hornets finished this game with three of their starters having double-doubles; those starters were Devonte’ Graham (27 points and 13 assists), Miles Bridges (11 points and 11 rebounds ), and Bismack Biyombo (11 points and 13 rebounds).
The leading scorer for the Hornets in this one was Terry Rozier, who finished with 29 points, eight assists, and six rebounds. PJ Washinton also had an impressive game, as he finished with 19 points and six rebounds.
This win was huge for the Hornets, and it took the whole team to make it happen. With this win, the Hornets are now 8-12 on the road, which means the team has more road wins than home wins (seven home wins).
With this win, the Hornets will look to continue their momentum against the Indiana Pacers on Monday night. The last time these two teams played in Charlotte, the Hornets came out with an overtime win.
