Andrew Wiggins

I caught heat for suggesting that the Hornets target Andrew Wiggins in the past, but here is Bleacher Report making that same suggestion. The main reason why people shy away from this trade is because of Wiggins’ contract.

Wiggins is currently serving the second year of his 5-year 147.7 million dollar contract. This contract seemed terrible last season, but Wiggins has been playing like he deserves that money this season.

As a starter in all thirty games that Wiggins’ has played in this season, he’s averaged 23.6 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. This wing has given the Timberwolves a lot of offense, but they just have not been able to string together wins.

This is easily the best year of Wiggins’ career, but it’s unknown if Minnesota will be looking to trade him with his breakout play. For Charlotte, this would be a tough trade for the team to make.

To make a trade of this caliber work, the Hornets would need to sell players like Nicolas Batum and Bismack Biyombo, while also providing a young player and a couple of draft picks.

This trade would ultimately give the Hornets a lot of athleticism on the perimeter, but at what costs? This would be a great trade to make if the Hornets don’t give away too many valuable pieces.
