Now that the NBA trade deadline has passed and the Charlotte Hornets’ opportunity to trade players is over, it is time to focus on internal growth.
The Charlotte Hornets front office did not exchange any transactions before the trade deadline passed in this 2019-2020 NBA season; that is not exactly a bad thing.
I believe that the front office would have made a move if they felt like they had the opportunity to make a trade that would benefit the organization moving forward. Since that opportunity did not open up, I am happier to have made no move than a bad move.

Take, for example, the alleged talked about trade package that would have sent Julius Randle, Dennis Smith Jr to Charlotte in exchange for Terry Rozier and Malik Monk. That is a trade that would overcrowd the frontcourt/wing position and I would not have liked to see happen, despite the acquiring of probably the best talent out of the transaction.
With the recent buyouts of veterans Marvin Williams and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, the Hornets will have about $25 million in free cap space for the summer (assuming that Nicolas Batum opts into his player option of almost the same amount of total free cap for the Hornets come summertime; otherwise cap almost doubles).
Now that the majority of the roster is set, let’s take a look at just a couple of goals that I believe should be focused on to finish out the remainder of the season.
The goals that I present are simple and purely directed towards internal growth
