James Wiseman
James Wiseman is easily one of my favorite prospects in this draft, and he has a lot of athletism that could assist the Charlotte Hornets’ frontcourt on both sides of the court. However, he left Memphis following the suspension he was given by the NBA.
According to Bleacher Report, Wiseman is still considered to be a top-5 pick heading into this year’s draft. With most of the lottery team’s already having a center, Wiseman is an ideal pick for the Hornets.
Before leaving Memphis, Wiseman was averaging 19.7 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. His offense was effective, and he finished his time with Memphis shooting 77% from the floor.
As the Hornets continue to struggle on defense, Wiseman also offers a lot of help to Charlotte’s paint defense. The Hornets currently allow 50.8 points per game in the paint, making them the 24th worst team in the league in paint defense.
Wiseman’s 7’6 wingspan makes him an ideal shot-blocker; he averaged 3.0 blocks per game this season.
His length can also help with rebounding, as the Hornets are currently the worst team in the league in defensive rebounding. Since he’s not finishing the year playing in college, he’s an ideal prospect to watch for in June.
