Charlotte Hornets: Dwayne Bacon dominates in Greensboro Swarm win
In his first G-League game of 2020, the Charlotte Hornets’ forward dominated in the Greensboro Swarms’ eighth win of the season.
On the same day that the Charlotte Hornets transferred Dwayne Bacon to the Greensboro Swarm, he came out and dominated. After not being with the Swarm for almost a full year, this was a statement game for Bacon.

The Greensboro Swarm defeated the Fort Wayne Mad Ants 124-117 in a comeback win. This was Bacon’s first G-League game of the season; he finished with 51 points and ten rebounds.
Bacon’s scoring performance broke the Greensboro Swarm’s franchise record (his record) for points scored in a game. He scored 45 points against the Wisconsin Herd in December of 2017.
Dwayne Bacon was moved to the Swarm after his recent play with the Hornets. In his last ten games, Bacon has averaged 0.8 points per game, and he’s seen inconsistent minutes.
The Hornets have a lot of depth at the wing position, and the Hornets likely moved Bacon to the Swarm to help him get back into rhythm. In 39 games this season, Bacon has averaged 5.7 points and 2.6 rebounds per game.
As a former starter for the Hornets, Bacon is looking to get consistent minutes from the team. Everyone knows that Bacon lost his starting job to Devonte’ Graham, so it’s been hard for him to get back to where he was.
His recent performance has to have turned the heads of the Hornets’ coaching staff. It’s not often that a player breaks a G-League team’s franchise record in their first game back with them.
The Hornets are set to play the Chicago Bulls on the road on Thursday, and there’s been no word yet regarding if Bacon will be joining the team. As the Hornets continue to use their young players, Bacon should rejoin the team soon.
