After Friday’s clutch win against the Toronto Raptors, the Charlotte Hornets have now won two-straight games.

In a game that many thought the Charlotte Hornets would lose, the team came out and silenced a lot of doubters. On Friday night, the Hornets won their 21st game of the season while on the road against the Toronto Raptors.

After trailing briefly in the first quarter, the Hornets went two straight quarters without ever trailing. Even with losing the lead a couple of times in the fourth, the Hornets were able to answer on each possession.

With the Hornets’ clutch play in Toronto, they finished with a 99-96 win. The Hornets have improved in every matchup against the Raptors so far, and it was great to see the progress of Charlotte’s young players.

In this win, every starter for the Hornets finished with 13+ points and 4+ rebounds. While the bench made a lot of plays, the Hornets’ starters were ultimately the X-Factor in this one.

For the second straight game, Terry Rozier and Devonte’ Graham led the Hornets in scoring, as both players finished with 18 points. The Hornets’ frontcourt also played well; Bismack Biyombo finished with his eighth double-double of the season.

What was surprising was the Hornets’ ability to rebound the basketball. The Hornets are one of the worst rebounding teams in the league, but they outrebounded the Raptors 58-45; this was the second-highest rebounding game of the season for the Hornets. The rarity of this stat makes it crazy to look at.

The Hornets had a lot of size in the paint with the injuries the Raptors had in their frontcourt, and the team successfully took advantage of their players being out. The Hornets also outscored the Raptors in the paint 42-38.

While the Hornets did a lot of things right, the team dodged a bullet with their turnovers. Charlotte committed 18 turnovers, while the raptors only had five. Even with the turnovers, the Hornets still pulled together to win a clutch road win in the end.
