Despite the struggles, there are still people tuning in to Hornets games. Will they be able to stick it out a few more years until hopefully, the team can compete?

My perception of the fans and how they feel about the team might be skewed a bit based on my personal social media feeds. Needless to say, I follow a number of diehard fans of the guys in purple and teal. So, what’s the overall consensus among those fans?

Patience. That’s to be expected among those who follow the team as close as some of us do, but that’s still a very encouraging sign knowing that people can have reasonable expectations about the team and its future.

Personally, it’s been a rough year for yours truly, at least in the world of sports. Yet, I’ve always tried to keep a positive mindset about things.

Teams, no matter who they are, are going to have rough patches. Some patches last longer than others and while fans have been justified in criticizing the Hornets and the management that runs them, there has been a measured tone among those that follow the team. There’s this sense of acknowledgment that Charlotte’s time will come and the fans seem content to bide their time until it happens.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, as many before us have said. Very few sports dynasties were built overnight as well. Right now is not a very exciting time to be a Hornets fan, but who knows what the future holds?

A draft steal here, maybe a free agent or two there who somehow blossoms under a new coaching staff and this team could find themselves among the top teams in the Eastern Conference in the next few years.

The Charlotte Hornets could potentially look a lot different after this off-season. Will those changes prove to be successful in the long run? Only time will tell, but as always, I maintain one philosophy: Why not us?
