While the nation succumbs to numerous measures put in place to stop the spread of the novel COVID-19 virus, the basketball world has come to a standstill. To wet Charlotte Hornets fans’ appetite, here are the five most integral games of the season.

The 2019-2020 Charlotte Hornets campaign had proven to be a run of the mill season for the franchise. Having finished with winning percentages in the mid .400’s in four out of the previous five years, a .354 mark over the course of the season thus far has failed to stand out. However, with a second-year coach and executive at the helm, growing pains were bound to be present.

With a new analytic driven, forward-thinking approach in place, year two is ideally where fans would expect to see a few glimmers of hope.

Take the 2012-2013 Toronto Raptors for example. That season served as a preview for the breakout of All-Stars, Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan, and a 48 win year that would follow.

Dwayne Casey was in his second season as the coach of Canada’s team at the time. His squad ripped off eight wins out of its last 11 contests. While Charlotte failed to show improvement of this caliber, the building blocks are in place for improvement.

As has been broken down countless times, this season saw the breakout of 24-year-old guard, Devonte’ Graham. The Kansas product emphatically proved that he can put the ball in the bucket at a professional level.

James Borrego preached versatility as a theme, and this approach proved successful at points. The interchangeability of brothers, Cody and Caleb Martin, in addition to switchable wings, Miles Bridges, and Jalen McDaniels created matchup nights for bigger opponents.
