2. PJ Washington (2019 Draft)

Besides a certain someone who will be mentioned next, PJ Washington has easily been the Hornets second-best draft pick as of late. After not participating in Summer League, Washington came out and played well in the preseason, which earned him a starting job.

In his first game as professional, Washington shocked fans, as he finished with 27 points and seven made three-pointers. Since that game, Washington has remained consistent by averaging 12.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.

Washington had a lot of critics heading into the draft, as he did not establish himself as a big that could shoot. However, Washington has shocked everyone with his stellar shooting from behind the arc. So far, during the 2019-20 season, Washington has knocked down 86 three-pointers, while shooting 37% from deep.

With his terrific play so far as a rookie, Washington was also granted the chance to participate in the NBA’s Rising Stars Game. In that game, Washington finished with 8 points and five rebounds.

Prior to the league suspending the season, Washington averaged 16 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in his last five games. Washington was also a major factor in the Hornets comeback win over the Miami Heat on 3/11/2020.

Washington has shown that he has a lot of potential, and the Hornets need a pat on the back for selecting him. However, the next and final pick will come as no surprise.
