Charlotte Hornets: League owners and players want to finish regular season
With the amount of speculation occurring as the Charlotte Hornets wait out the league’s hiatus, many in the league want the regular season to resume.
As fans wait for news regarding the NBA’s hiatus, the Charlotte Hornets could finish the rest of their regular-season schedule. As of late, many from around the league have pushed for the league to finish the season.

News about the league suspending its regular season broke in the closing stages of the Hornets’ win over the Miami Heat on March 11th. This suspension was due to a player on the Utah Jazz testing positive for the COVID-19 virus.
On March 23rd, Bleacher Report confirmed that owners and players do want to finish the regular season. ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne stated, “no matter what, they want to salvage the season—if that’s in July, if that’s in August, if that’s in September, so be it.”
Moreover, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski also reported that teams might be bracing for a return in June. This potential plan would include games being played without fans in attendance and the playoffs being extended until August.
Any plan like this would affect the league’s following season. New York Times reporter Mark Stein confirmed that some teams have lobbied for free agency to start in September, with the 2020-21 season tipping-off on Christmas Day.
As of now, the league has followed all of the advice and guidelines coming from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. As of now, the CDC has recommended not to have events with over fifty in attendance.
No matter what the NBA decides, this will go down as a significant event in the league’s history with the potential changes that are looming. As of now, it’s unknown how Hornets’ owner Michael Jordan feels about finishing the season.
