While the world continues to be starved for sports action, one way we can cope is to look back at some of the better individual performances during the season for the Charlotte Hornets.

Well, it’s been about three weeks since the Charlotte Hornets last played a game. Everyone is still waiting to see if and when any kind of sports returns. Here, of course, we’re obviously focused on basketball and since the only basketball going on now is the virtual kind, we might as well remind ourselves of some of the more notable performances from the Hornets’ players.

I will preface this by saying that despite the numerous impressive individual performances of the season by various Charlotte Hornets players, most of them ultimately ended in losses. That’s to be expected with this year’s crew, but in a time when we’re all trying to find some positivity in the world, it puts a bit of a damper on things.

Much of that is out of our power, though, so why not just jump right in? Our first recap is that of Miles Bridges. The second-year forward out of Michigan State was a solid player for the Hornets this year, averaging 13 points and 6 rebounds, but could have done more with the playing time in which he was given.

One game where he did prove his worth, however, was against the Washington Wizards, way back on November 22nd of last year. Bridges scored a career-high 31 points and grabbed eight rebounds, including a game-high three offensive boards.

He shot 12-21 from the field, including 3-7 from downtown and made all four of his free-throws. On the defensive end, he forced three steals against two turnovers and had no blocks.

As alluded to earlier, this was in a loss, their third in a row amidst a five-game losing streak at the time. Bridges’ +/- was -11, but to be fair, the only Hornets in the positive were Marvin Williams and Nic Batum and even then, just barely.

This was one of eight games during the season Bridges would lead the Hornets in scoring, which, given his scoring average and minutes played, really shows how there were times when he would simply disappear from the offense. Here’s hoping he can be more of an impact in the future.

It’s a sad fact that we’re relegated to pore over games from much earlier in the season, but that’s honestly the least of our worries right now. At least we have the highlights to look back on, even if they are in losses, and Miles’ game against the Wizards certainly fits the bill.
