Could the Charlotte Hornets win an NBA title if the league were to start fresh?

The first scenario finds the Charlotte Hornets picking all the way back at the 28th spot. It’s not looking good so far.

As I said before, no matter what pick the CPU gives me, I will take it. This obviously means that the 28th pick I was given is not what I want. Still, we must persevere. Our complete fantasy draft is as follows round by round:

  1. Khris Middleton
  2. Nikola Vucevic
  3. Bojan Bogdanovic
  4. Caris LeVert
  5. George Hill
  6. Cody Zeller
  7. Jeff Teague
  8. Ersan Ilyasova
  9. Danny Green
  10. Kent Bazemore
  11. Langston Galloway
  12. Mike Scott
  13. Raul Neto
  14. Tony Snell

As you can see, the fruits of our poor draft pick are bearing. It could be worse and there is a good amount of perimeter shooting on this roster, even from the bigs like Vucevic and Bogdanovic. Of course, it wouldn’t be a sports game without the computer throwing a monkey wrench into the works.

Our number one pick, Khris Middleton, goes down with an injury in the first game of the year. It’s a bruised hip, so it’s not too bad, but he will be missing a week or two. Things are starting off wonderfully, aren’t they?

Being basketball, it would not be the only injury. Middleton again hurt himself, injuring his right finger and missed another three weeks. Vucevic was out for a month with a knee injury and several others were out for various periods.

All in all, the team finished 31-51, obviously missing the playoffs. Luka Doncic was the league MVP. The Chicago Bulls and Houston Rockets met in the NBA Finals, with the Rockets taking the series 4-2. Zach Levine was the Finals MVP, on a team that sported Kawhi Leonard, no less. Go figure. Let’s move on to scenario number two.
