3 reasons why the Charlotte Hornets should stick with Terry Rozier
Rozier is not a Lazy Defender
For Hornets fans, defense and intensity are two things that are constantly preached about by Coach James Borrego. Those two things come naturally to Rozier, as he’s able to use his speed and 6′ 8″ wingspan to his advantage.
As a guard, Rozier’s wingspan has helped him to be efficient at rebounding and stealing the ball. So far this season, Rozier has averaged 4.4 rebounds and 1.0 steal per game; these numbers are very close to career highs.
When Rozier is on the court, he always gives his 100% effort on both sides of the court. He constantly keeps up with who he’s defending, while also slipping through many screens being set on him.
Rozier constantly contests shots on defense, which proves that he does not give up while defending. In terms of contested three-point shots, Rozier is in the top-20 in the league in contested three-point shots per game with 3.9.
Even when Rozier is fighting to contest shots, he also constantly finds a way to get a hand on the ball on defense. Rozier is in the top-4 on the Hornets in deflections per game with 1.5. This number has been consistent since his midseason report card was completed.
