Charlotte Hornets: NBA has a potential plan to resume season
As the NBA’s initial 30-day suspension has come to an end, the Charlotte Hornets now know what the NBA may be planning.
The NBA’s initial 30-day suspension has passed, and the Charlotte Hornets may now know how the rest of their season may play out. On Sunday, the news surfaced on a possible plan for how the NBA will resume the season.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported a few details on a potential return of the season. Windhorst told listeners that many league executives and trainers have been discussing a 25-day plan; this plan includes how the league will resume.

In this plan, there would be an 11-day period that includes individual workouts; social distancing would still be used during these workouts.
Following these workouts, teams would then start a 14-day camp, where they can practice five-one-five; this decision will come if health agencies give the league clearance to proceed.
If the league was to move forward with this plan in June as many are hoping, then a return to basketball may not even happen until July. The Hornets season may be over if the league looks to go straight into the playoffs at that time.
The playoffs may be very different this season, as there have been many unorthodox proposals on how the playoffs will go. CBS Sports reported that “some have suggested an abbreviated, eight-team playoff with best-of-three series instead of best-of-seven.” Some have even proposed a single-elimination playoff bracket that’s similar to the NCAA’s.
With the Hornets regular season potentially ending, the team will be looking at possibly getting the 8th pick in the NBA Draft. Finishing the regular season would’ve helped the team if they were trying to improve their position in the draft.
No matter what the league decides, every decision will have a strong effect on next season. Fans may be looking at a few odd seasonal league schedules in the future.
