Will Kemba Walker return and finish his career with the Charlotte Hornets?
After a tough offseason last year, is there still a chance that Charlotte Hornets fans will ever see Kemba Walker in the purple and teal again?
Looking back at last year’s offseason, the Charlotte Hornets had to make a tough decision that changed the direction of their franchise. Parting ways with Kemba Walker was something that fans could not believe.
Fans thought that Walker would be a lifer in Charlotte, playing every season of his career there. However, that could not happen since the team could not get a deal together that Walker deserved.

With Walker now with the Boston Celtics, it raises the question of if he will ever return to Charlotte one day? Walker is currently under contract with the Celtics until the end of the 2022-23 season.
Before being traded to the Celtics, Walker told Jared Weiss, writer for The Athletic, that Charlotte was his first priority. Walker even said that he was even willing to take a pay cut, despite being eligible for a supermax contract. In the end, Charlotte disrespected Walker’s generosity by lowballing him.
Unless Walker is traded back to the Hornets, Charlotte will not have the opportunity to offer him a “welcome home” contract until he’s 33 years old. At that time, it’s unknown if Charlotte will bring him back if they have a stacked roster.
After signing with the Celtics, Walker issued a heartwarming letter to the city of Charlotte and Hornets fans. If you read this, you know Walker loves Charlotte and that it’s his home.
Kemba Walker spent eight seasons with the Hornets, and fans know that it felt like a long time. In just eight seasons, Walker averaged 19.8 points, 5.5 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game.
Walker had many great moments, but no one will forget his magnificent performance in the Hornets’ first game back in Charlotte after being rebranded.
Fans will also never forget Walker’s sixty-point game at home against the Philadelphia 76ers last season. Even though the Hornets did not win, this was a big moment for the franchise, as Walker became the team’s record holder for most points scored in a game.
With everything that Walker has done in Charlotte, he’s guaranteed to have his jersey retired after he retires. Oh yeah, let’s also not forget that he’s also at the top of many of the Hornets’ career leaderboards.
Kemba Walker left his mark in Charlotte, and many fans would like to possibly see him in the purple and teal again. If Walker does return to Charlotte, it may be many years down the road.
