As many search ways to help during these challenging times, a veteran of the Charlotte Hornets made a huge donation with his charity foundation.

During these times, Charlotte Hornets fans look to the media for what is happening around the NBA community. Sometimes, it’s nice to see a player go above and beyond to help people, especially when they play for your team.

On Sunday, an interview aired on Bismack Biyombo, in which he talked about a delivery that his foundation will make to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated conducted Biyombo’s interview.

According to Biyombo, his charity foundation is delivering over 10,000 masks and 780 hazmat suits to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. In a time where it’s hard to guarantee safety, this is a great move by Biyombo.

However, a move like this by Biyombo should not come as a surprise to fans. Currently, Biyombo is a Vice-President of the NBA’s Player Association. With this role, Biyombo is regularly representing league players, while also trying to help where he can.

On March 11th following the Hornets’ win over the Miami Heat, Biyombo was asked about the fate of the NBA season by Rod Boone of The Athletic. Biyombo told Boone that he thinks the season is not over.

Bismack Biyombo has been an asset to the Hornets, as he’s filled a variety of roles that he’s been put in. In just 53 games played, Biyombo has averaged 7.4 points (career-high) and 5.8 rebounds per game.

Biyombo has come off the bench in 24 games, while also starting in 29 games. Even though coach James Borrego has had Biyombo sit out in some games, he still understands his role with the team.

Whenever the season ends, Biyombo will become an unrestricted free agent. So far, Biyombo’s future with the team has not been decided, as the team is coming off his large contract.
