If the NBA resumes the season, will a former veteran of the Charlotte Hornets finally get a ring?

The NBA has not announced any new news about the regular season. As of now, teams like the Charlotte Hornets continue to wait and see if they will finish their regular season schedule.

No matter what happens, Hornets fans will be able to watch a former veteran of the team possibly get the chance of a lifetime. Marvin Williams is a member of the Milwaukee Bucks, and they have the best record in the league at 53-12.

In February, Williams accepted a buyout from the Charlotte Hornets and became a free agent. Williams instantly found a new team after his time with the Hornets had ended.

During the 2019-20 season, Williams averaged 6.7 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. His numbers were career lows, and the main reason behind that was because of his new bench role on the team.

After leaving Charlotte, Williams appeared in eleven games for the Bucks before the NBA’s regular season was suspended. As a Buck, Williams has averaged 4.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game; he’s primarily been used off the bench.

Williams’ most surprising stat of the season so far has been the percentage he’s averaged from the free-throw line. In 52 games played this season, Williams has shot 87% from the line, which is a new career-high.

It wasn’t hard to see why the best team in the league picked him up, as he’s a reliable option when it comes to shooting free-throws. The Bucks clearly needed Williams, as they are the 27th ranked team in the league in free-throw percentage with 74.2%.

If the league were to resume soon, the Bucks would remain the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference; this would guarantee Williams a chance to see some action in the first round of the playoffs.

Marvin Williams has only been to the playoffs six times in his career. He went five straight seasons with the Atlanta Hawks, and his most recent trip was with the Hornets in 2016. The veteran forward has played in 49 playoff games, where he averaged 7.0 and 4.2 rebounds per game.

Williams is currently playing on the best team of his career. If there’s a chance for him to finally win a ring, then it is this season. He’s a 33-year-old veteran who’s set to become a free agent this offseason, and it’s unclear if the Bucks plan to bring him back.

As Williams enters the offseason, Hornets fans will have the chance to root for one of the team’s longest-tenured players (played in 429 games with Charlotte).
