Patience is a virtue and Charlotte Hornets fans certainly are a patient bunch. So far, it’s looking like their patience will be rewarded with this draft class.

In just two years, this group of players (Kuboka excluded, by no real fault of his own) has not only put their time in but has now become part of the new face of the Charlotte Hornets. Adding in rookie P.J. Washington, newcomer Terry Rozier, Malik Monk, and even Caleb and Cody Martin, the youth movement is on in the Queen City.

Miles Bridges was the third-leading scorer on the team and their second-leading rebounder in the 2019-2020 season, averaging 13 points and 6 boards while shooting 42% from the field and a fairly impressive 33% from deep this past season. Graham scored just over 18 a game and dished out 7.5 assists per contest while shooting 37% from behind the arc.

Their combined point total this season is just a smidge over 30% of the team’s 103 points per game average. Granted, that team average was the worst in the league this past season, but for two guys to contribute that much at such a young age in what many would consider a middling draft, is noteworthy.

It would appear the Hornets have a good thing going from their choices in the 2018 NBA Draft. The results might not be there just yet, but Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither are contenders. With a few extra pieces here and there, maybe a key pick in this year’s upcoming draft, and you might see a team ready to be a perennial playoff factor.

Only time will tell and hopefully, these two can continue to improve, and with last year’s picks looking solid as well, the foundation for a team that could make consecutive playoffs trips for the first time in nearly two decades seems to be building right before our very eyes.
