Earlier this week, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper announced that his Stay-At-Home Order would extend into May. With this extension, Governor Cooper is expected to lift some restrictions on May 8th, as it’s part of his three-phase plan.
With some restrictions in North Carolina being lifted, the Hornets may get to open their facility within the next two weeks. This will allow players to visit the team’s facility while following the proper social-distancing guidelines.
Teams have been unable to use any of their facilities since March 11th, when the league suspended the regular season. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver initially suspended the season for 30-days, but now the league is just waiting for the “okay” from health agencies.
As the league begins to resume operations, the NBA has been putting together a plan to finish the season. The plan includes a 25-day series of workouts before the season resumes. Teams would have an 11-day period of individual workouts, and then they would start a 14-day camp as a team.
With the NBA allowing teams to use their facilities, fans can expect the league to release more news soon about how the season will be finished. It’s still unclear if teams like the Hornets will get to finish their regular season schedule.
