Charlotte Hornets all-time starting five – Point guard: Kemba Walker (2018-19)

Stat line: 25.6 PPG / 5.9 APG / 4.4 RPG

Out of every choice, the point guard position was the easiest. Kemba Walker is clearly the best Hornets’ player of all-time, and he is easily the best point guard to ever play in Charlotte.

As a Hornet, Walker had many great seasons, but his final one in Charlotte stood out the most. During the 2018-19 season, Walker broke many franchise records, and he even broke the team’s record for most points scored in a game.

Hornets fans also witnessed Walker break his own record for made three-pointers in a season with 260. Walker originally broke Glen Rice’s three-point record during the 2017-18 season by making 231 threes.

Walker’s elite numbers during this season helped him to become an All-Star starter for the first time in his career. These career numbers helped him earn his third chance to participate in the All-Star game.

When we look at who Walker played with, you can see that he did not have a lot of help. The best player Walker played with during this season was Jeremy Lamb, who averaged 15.3 points per game.

Of course, Walker has played with Al Jefferson and Dwight Howard in the past, but his 2018-19 campaign featured a whole lot of him. If this version of Walker played on a better team, then his team would be a force to be reckoned with.

However, following the 2018-19 season, Walker was packaged in a sign-and-trade that sent him to the Boston Celtics for Terry Rozier. During his eight seasons in Charlotte, Walker averaged 19.8 points, 5.5 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game.
