Heading into the 2020 offseason, the Charlotte Hornets will have a few difficult roster decisions to make.

The Charlotte Hornets will have a difficult offseason this year, as the team will be forced to make a few decisions that will change up their roster. Since the team’s season is officially over, the team can start to look at who they will re-sign.

One player that is not guaranteed to be on the team next season is Dwayne Bacon. Heading into the offseason, Bacon is set to become a restricted free agent, meaning the Hornets could extend the qualifying offer to him.

More from Swarm and Sting

During the 2019-20 season, Bacon had a rough year, as he averaged 5.7 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. Bacon started the season on fire, but he fell off after the first ten games.

One of the most disappointing parts of the season for Bacon was the new career-lows that he set with his shooting percentages. Bacon finished the season by shooting 35% from the field, while also shooting 37% on two-pointers.

While Bacon had a down year, the Hornets were able to get a lot of production out of him after sending him to the G-League. After nine games in the G-League, Bacon averaged 31.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.

One of the most impressive parts of his time in the G-League was the first game he played in. During his first game back with the Greensboro Swarm, Bacon broke his own record for points in a game and scored 51 against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

While Bacon was in the G-League, he missed eleven games with the Hornets. In his final seven regular-season games, Bacon averaged 1.7 points and 2.6 rebounds per game.

However, even with his terrific play in the G-League, Bacon was never called back up to the Hornets before the NBA’s hiatus. Bacon was likely never called up due to the emergence of Cody and Caleb Martin.

With both of these young players developing well and earning increased playing time, where does it leave Bacon on the roster? As of now, it would be hard for him to find minutes in Coach James Borrego’s rotation.
