Projecting the Charlotte Hornets’ 2021 starting point guard: Terry Rozier

After a stellar first season with the Hornets, Terry Rozier could be heading into next season as Charlotte’s starting point guard for the second straight year. Starting Rozier will mean that the team will be committed to his contract for another season.

Rozier is easily coming off the best season of his career. In his first season in Charlotte, Rozier averaged 18.0 points (career-high), 4.1 assists (career-high), and 4.4 rebounds per game. His three-point shooting was also great, as he shot 41% from behind the arc. However, his ball-handling proved to be worrisome at times, as he averaged 2.2 turnovers per game.

The scoring from Rozier was appreciated this season. He finished with a true shooting percentage in the clutch of 70.6%, which ranked him 1st among all players who attempted 50+ clutch shots in a season; this stat started being recorded in 1996.

Playing alongside James Wiseman would help take a lot of pressure off Rozier, and would help him get even more open shots. Rozier and Wiseman both play with a lot of intensity, so I could see both of these players playing well together.

Rozier shot very well this season, and having Wiseman at the center spot would help get even more second-chance opportunities.
