Charlotte Hornets fans may not know when the team will see the postseason again, but until then, there are a few seasons on which they can hang their hats.

Though the team looks to be in for a rebuild over the next few seasons, there is hope that the team can once again become a perennial playoff contender, something that hasn’t been the case since before the original team moved to New Orleans back in the early 2000s.

There’s no telling how long that will take, though, and for now, fans can only wish for the front office to keep making great moves through the NBA Draft and various other avenues. Nearly two decades without consecutive playoff appearances is a long time and you have to believe that the Hornets are due.

Time will tell when the Charlotte Hornets will field back-to-back playoff teams again, but when they do, fans will surely be appreciative to be back there.

Charlotte isn’t limited to just these handful of playoff teams, but these are the best combinations of sheer postseason success, cultural significance, and defying the odds. Perhaps they can add another team to this list in the coming years.

It is true that the Hornets don’t have an illustrious postseason history, even just compared to other teams their age, but it’s easy to forget that it could be worse. The city of Charlotte could still be pining for their own team had they not reached an agreement to have a new arena built to facilitate the Bobcats.

Even though their existence has been fairly mediocre since the city regained an NBA team, that’s still better than not having a team in which to cheer for at all. It’s easy to forget that not every area can have an NBA team or how some cities are still wishing theirs hadn’t moved.

The second Hornets stint hasn’t been as successful as the first, but every dog has its day and the next time someone makes one of these lists, there could be a new team right there among these great ones. Fans of the Charlotte Hornets are hoping it’s sooner, rather than later.
