With the Charlotte Hornets sitting out of the NBA’s Orlando bubble, let’s take a look at Devonte’ Graham.

As of late, Devonte’ Graham of the Charlotte Hornets has been talked about as a candidate for the Most Improved Award for the 19/20 season. The breakout of the Kansas guard has been nothing short of sensational.

In a season that has been cast in a shadow of Kemba Walker moving across to Boston, a worldwide pandemic and the Hornets missing out on a trip to Orlando, Graham has shown flashes that he is the guy who can lead the hornets back to playoff relevancy.

This season has been a coming-out party for Graham, and fans have been treated to offensive exhibitions regularly, including a 40 point night against the Brooklyn Nets earlier in the season.

There are obviously still some flaws in his game. His shot selection and decision making will need some refining, and defensively he will continue to grow within Coach Borrego’s system. However, the front office has taken Graham’s growth as an unexpected bonus in the Hornets development of its young core this season.

Graham may not be ready fully to be given the keys to a franchise yet, but if this season is a sign of things to come, the Hornets guard may not be far away from taking the helm of the team.

If the Hornets draft the right piece, the young Hornets will continue forming a young nucleus that has a well-developed chemistry, which it seems Graham is as important too as any other player.

Confidence is an essential ingredient in developing Devonte’ Graham. Coach Borrego trusts him as do his teammates, and that trust has been a catalyst for his growth. His development alongside Terry Rozier has been a pleasant surprise.

If this continues and the team develops the nucleus, Hornets fans could be back in the playoffs sooner than you think. But one thing is for sure. Devonte’ Graham knows his time is coming.
