Many were shocked to learn that the Hornets would receive this record. Prior to the draft lottery, the Hornets were projected to receive the 8th pick based on their record. The Hornets had a 34.50% chance of receiving the 8th pick.

In the team’s history, the Hornets have only held the 3rd pick two times. With this pick, the Hornets selected Baron Davis in 1999 and Adam Morrison in 2006. Out of both those picks, Davis ended up having the biggest impact on the Hornets.

With this pick, the Charlotte Hornets will have the opportunity to draft one of the top prospects in the NBA Draft. Will the Hornets end up drafting a future star?
