Don’t #2: Take a Player Just Based off of Positional Fit

This was touched on earlier, but it is very important so it deserves its own portion.

As Kupchak said in the quote earlier on in the article, the Hornets are not in the position to pass on a better player for positional need. There are very few people on this team who should be untouchable on this roster.

Say, for example, the Hornets believe that LaMelo Ball is the best player available, they should not pass on him because they already have two decent point guards. There is simply nobody on this roster where we should prioritize positional fit instead of player’s talent or raw potential. If it’s close, then it isn’t bad, but talent over positional needs, forever.
