Charlotte Hornets: 1 concern with every prospect to consider at No.3
Onyeka Okongwu for the University of Southern California last year and he is wildly underrated as a prospect for the Hornets. Okongwu dominated for one season in the Pac-12 before the cancelation of the Pac-12 tournament and eventually March Madness.
Okongwu is really explosive offensively and unlike Wiseman, has an impressive resume that extends for the entirety of the season. Okongwu 16 points and eight rebounds per game, and I cannot stress enough that unlike Wiseman, Okongwu played in a tough Pac-12 conference.
Okongwu sits at six feet, nine inches, and a solid 245 pounds of muscle. With a field goal percentage of 61, there’s no doubting his capabilities on the court.
What should concern the Charlotte Hornets about drafting Okongwu?
Okongwu does have a problem with playmaking and his two turnovers per game really reflect that. This concern isn’t dire as Okongwu will have plenty of time to raise his basketball IQ but its something to be aware of.
Okongwu is a forward so to be 17th in turnover percentage in the Pac-12, I something that coaches will have to really teach to Okongwu. A couple turnovers shouldn’t turn any teams away and his potential far outweighs the concerns but teams should be fully aware of his turnover problem.
