As many teams prepare for the offseason, the Charlotte Hornets now know when free agency will start.

Since COVID-19 impacted the season for the Charlotte Hornets and many teams this year, many have been wondering about offseason activities. Since July, teams have received many different dates for offseason activities.

Originally, the league was set on October 15th for the NBA Draft, which would allow free agency to start a few days after. However, the draft was moved due to the length of the NBA Playoffs, and the league decided to go with the date of November 18th.

It’s been two months since the league made this change for the draft’s date. With that said, the league and the National Basketball Player Association have now finally agreed on a date for free agency to begin. Free Agency is set to begin on November 20th.

Free Agency has been a question on many team’s minds this year, as no one knew when it would officially start. For many teams, the draft will have a significant impact on what teams do during free agency.

Heading into the offseason, the Hornets are ready to use their third pick in the draft while also preparing for free agency. Based on several roster projections, the Hornets should start free agency with $30 million in cap space.

While the Hornets prepare for free agency, fans can only hope that they do better than last season. During last season’s free agency period, the Hornets lost Kemba Walker and several other contributors.

The Charlotte Hornets have eight days until the draft and ten until free agency. The team needs to be prepared if they seek to be one of the winners of the 2020 offseason.
