RJ Hampton was one of the most explosive high school players in the nation before choosing to go play overseas. Hampton is an amazing athlete and shows great flashes of a dominant point guard. Hampton played very well for New Zealand and looks to bring his talents over to the NBA.

Hampton averaged nine points with four rebounds, two assists and a steal per game. Hampton shot 40 percent from the field despite his struggles on the perimeter. NBADraft.net stated the following on Hampton’s ability on the dribble:

"“Very good ball handler. Creates and breaks down the defense off the dribble; effectively uses his crossover, changing direction/speed, and knows how to shift his defender. Can fit in tight spaces and gets where he wants with the ball. Good pick and roll ball handler.”"

The Jrue Holiday trade had the Pelicans acquire both Eric Bledsoe and George Hill and with JJ Redick on the roster, the team has quite a few guards on the roster. Hampton is too good of a prospect to pass on this NBA Draft. I do believe that the Pelicans will try to trade away a few of these guards so Hampton can come in and develop as a young guard with Zion Williamson. Hampton can be a version of RJ Barret for the Pelicans team and create an explosive duo between the two.
