The first half of the Charlotte Hornets schedule was announced and the month of February is going to be tough for the organization.

The Charlotte Hornets announced their half schedule and going into this season, the team should be wary of February as there are several key matchups and dates to look out for.

Out of the 15 games in February, the team faces off against several playoff teams. 60 percent of the games in February are solid playoff teams(including this year’s healthy Warriors).

The Hornets start the month against Eastern Conference champions, the Miami Heat will face off against the young Charlotte roster. The Heat have an absolutely stacked roster with Jimmy Butler, a lights out shooter in Tyler Herro, and an extremely impressive supporting cast. The Heat are looking to come back into the league and shock NBA with another run at the championship.

The Philadephia 76ers will play the Hornets in February and the team despite their postseason struggles, is still very talented. With Daryl Morey joining the front office, the team has made tremendous moves to make the team competitive. Morey found a way to keep both young stars and add some more talent to the team. He was able to get rid of Al Horford’s horrible contract, where he just didn’t fit into the system. Philly also just added Seth Curry, who improves the team’s three-point shooting.

Charlotte will then play against the Utah Jazz, who are a definite playoff team. The Jazz have a great guard tandem in Mike Conley and Donovan Mitchell. Even though Conley struggled last season, he is still a valuable asset to the organization. The team has some young talent and will faceoff at the Spectrum Center.

Charlotte will also have back-to-back contests against the Portland Trailblazers and the Houston Rockets. Both teams are solid Western Conference seeds with superstars in Damian Lillard and James Harden. The roster won’t stack up against these talented teams very well, where these franchise

The following week of games are easier contests that the team shouldn’t struggle much against.

The Denver Nuggets, who surprised the league and made it to the Western Conference finals. Led by Nikola “Joker” Jokić, the best center in the league. Jokić is great at playmaking and is so efficient at stretching the floor. Paul Millsap and “The Joker” is a strong frontcourt that will dominate the Hornets in the paint since there isn’t much talent for a big man.

After another matchup with the Jazz, the Hornets will play the Golden State Warriors. Obviously, the team has one of the best players in the league with Stephen Curry and picking up the ever-talented James Wiseman. The roster is full of great players and this season the franchise will definitely be right back at the top of the Western Conference.
