The Charlotte Hornets still struggled in key areas

Even though the team made a last-minute attempt at catching the Toronto Raptors, the Hornets still had quite a few problems on the court.

Again with the turnovers. While they weren’t as blatantly bad as they were in the first game, were still a critical hit in tonight’s game. No Charlotte fan should be okay with 25 turnovers in a single contest, and yes I understand this is the preseason but those mistakes cannot be made in the regular season if the franchise wants a legitimate chance to make a playoff push. The Raptors got a total of 13 steals tonight, doubling Swarm City’s amount of steals. Going into Orlando, the team clearly needs to work on keeping the ball in their hands and making better passes.

I hinted at this after the team’s last matchup but PJ Washington is still struggling on offense. Yes, Washington was a stud on defense tonight with two steals and a pair of blocks, but shooting 36 percent is not acceptable. Washington is a great offensive talent but he’s struggled against the Raptors so far this preseason, and it makes me worry. Washington is the starting power forward(for now) but he has got to get back into the offensive flow he was in last season.

Overall the team played well and I was proud of the potential that the franchise showed, the organization just needs to finetune some things yet before Hornets basketball is successful.
