Charlotte Hornets: Cody Zeller could miss some time with injury
Even with the Charlotte Hornets losing on opening night, the team could be without their starting center for some time.
The Charlotte Hornets had a hard time keeping up with the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road on opening night. The Cavaliers almost looked unstoppable on offense due to Charlotte’s poor defensive putting.
With defense being the main concern, another concern that has not come up is Cody Zeller, who now has a fractured hand. With this injury, the Hornets could be looking at missing Zeller for some time.

After the game, Coach James Borrego told the media that Zeller would be missing some time due to his injury. Zeller’s teammates also chimed in and told the media how important he was in what the Hornets do.
With Zeller being injured, Coach Borrego did not that fans could begin to see rookie bigs getting some playing time. This would also mean that Bismack Biyombo could be moving back into the starting lineup.
Before getting injured, Zeller finished the game with 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals. However, Zeller’s back, Biyombo, finished the game with 11 points and 4 rebounds. Biyombo saw a significant amount of minutes in the game.
Over the past three seasons, Zeller has missed 89 games because of injuries. Zeller being out hurts the team, so the Hornets will need to find a way to fill his void in the middle with Biyombo. Luckily for Charlotte, Biyombo shared the starting job with Zeller last season.
The Charlotte Hornets now have their sights set on their home opener on Saturday against the Oklahoma City Thunder. This will be the Thunder’s first game of the season.
